ISHS (www.ishs.org) is a World-Wide Horticultural Network, an “independent organization of horticulturists acting as a globally recognized and sought-after platform for research, science-based information exchange and collaboration in support of sustainable innovation in horticulture.” The ISHS comprises “over 70,000 individuals, universities, governments, institutions, libraries and commercial companies, thousands of whom joined as Individual Members, in addition to a substantial number of Institutional Members and some 50 Member Countries/Regions.”
- The first Chestnut Symposium was previously organized in 1998 in France and continued in Portugal in 2004, in China in 2008, in the USA in 2012 and in 2014 in Turkey.
- Chestnut Symposium brings together researchers, technicians, academics, companies, associations and people related to and interested in the chestnut.
- USC is holding the present Symposium at Campus Terra in Lugo. We will have the opportunity of interchange ideas and we will also visit chestnut orchards and natural stands of special relevance, including the giant trees.
